STANDING ORDER

To

All Registrars of Births and Deaths,

Subject: The foster care of a child by foster parents under the Uttarakhand Uniform Civil Code Act, 2024, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Uttarakhand Uniform Civil Code Act, 2024 (Uttarakhand Act 3 of 2024), the Information and Public Relations Department, Government of Uttarakhand hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the foster care of a child by foster parents.

2. The matter has been examined. Every foster parent carrying on the foster care of a child shall make an application in Form III to the Registrar of Marriages within one hundred and twenty days, accompanied by a fee of twenty rupees.

3. The Registrar of Births and Deaths shall ensure that order of maintenance is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Registrar of Marriages within one hundred and twenty days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Information and Public Relations Department, Government of Uttarakhand.
