STANDING ORDER

All Assistant Charity Commissioners,

Subject: The keeping of a dharamshala by keepers of a dharamshala under the Karnataka Societies Registration Act, 1960, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Karnataka Societies Registration Act, 1960 (Karnataka Act 17 of 1960), the Revenue Department, Government of Karnataka hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the keeping of a dharamshala by keepers of a dharamshala.

2. The matter has been examined. Every keeper of a dharamshala carrying on the keeping of a dharamshala shall make an application in Form H to the Registrar of Societies within three hundred and sixty-five days, accompanied by a fee of one thousand rupees.

3. The Assistant Charity Commissioner shall ensure that budget is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Registrar of Societies within three hundred and sixty-five days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Revenue Department, Government of Karnataka.
