OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: The occupation of land near a monument by occupiers of land near a monument under the Karnataka Ancient and Historical Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 1962, regarding.

1. The undersigned is directed to say that references have been received in the Law Department, Government of Karnataka on the manner in which the occupation of land near a monument by occupiers of land near a monument is to be regulated under the Karnataka Ancient and Historical Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 1962.

2. The matter has been examined. Every occupier of land near a monument carrying on the occupation of land near a monument shall make an application in Form VIII to the Hotel Classification Committee within thirty days, accompanied by a fee of five hundred rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the occupation of land near a monument is undertaken, and the Hotel Classification Committee shall dispose of it within thirty days of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this office memorandum may be brought to the notice of the Law Department, Government of Karnataka.
