STANDING ORDER

To

All Sub-Registrars,

Subject: The functions of a kazi by kazis under the Maharashtra Regulation of Marriage Bureaus and Registration of Marriages Act, 1998, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Maharashtra Regulation of Marriage Bureaus and Registration of Marriages Act, 1998 (Maharashtra Act 20 of 1998), the Law Department, Government of Maharashtra hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the functions of a kazi by kazis.

2. The matter has been examined. Every kazi carrying on the functions of a kazi shall make an application in Form IV to the District Registrar within sixty days, accompanied by a fee of one thousand rupees.

3. The Sub-Registrar shall ensure that notice of intended marriage is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the District Registrar within sixty days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Law Department, Government of Maharashtra.
