OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: The maintenance of a dam by owners of a dam under the Bengal Irrigation Act, 1876, regarding.

1. The undersigned is directed to say that references have been received in the Tourism Department, Government of West Bengal on the manner in which the maintenance of a dam by owners of a dam is to be regulated under the Bengal Irrigation Act, 1876.

2. The matter has been examined. Every owner of a dam carrying on the maintenance of a dam shall make an application in Form C to the Government of West Bengal within forty-five days, accompanied by a fee of one thousand rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the maintenance of a dam is undertaken, and the Government of West Bengal shall dispose of it within forty-five days of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this office memorandum may be brought to the notice of the Tourism Department, Government of West Bengal.
