STANDING ORDER

To

All Surveyors,

Subject: The possession of land by persons in possession of land under the Tamil Nadu Patta Pass Book Act, 1983, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Tamil Nadu Patta Pass Book Act, 1983 (Tamil Nadu Act 4 of 1983), the Law Department, Government of Tamil Nadu hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the possession of land by persons in possession of land.

2. The matter has been examined. Every person in possession of land carrying on the possession of land shall make an application in Form 8 to the Tahsildar within one hundred and twenty days, accompanied by a fee of ten rupees.

3. The Surveyor shall ensure that record of rights is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Tahsildar within one hundred and twenty days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Law Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
