STANDING ORDER

All Village Accountants,

Subject: The holding of allotted surplus land by allottees of surplus land under the West Bengal Land Reforms Act, 1955, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the West Bengal Land Reforms Act, 1955 (West Bengal Act 10 of 1955), the Finance Department, Government of West Bengal hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the holding of allotted surplus land by allottees of surplus land.

2. The matter has been examined. Every allottee of surplus land carrying on the holding of allotted surplus land shall make an application in Form 7 to the Land Tribunal within one hundred and twenty days, accompanied by a fee of two thousand rupees.

3. The Village Accountant shall ensure that mutation is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Land Tribunal within one hundred and twenty days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Finance Department, Government of West Bengal.
