OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: The operation of a ferry by operators of a ferry under the West Bengal Panchayat Act, 1973, regarding.

1. The undersigned is directed to say that references have been received in the Mines and Geology Department, Government of West Bengal on the manner in which the operation of a ferry by operators of a ferry is to be regulated under the West Bengal Panchayat Act, 1973.

2. The matter has been examined. Every operator of a ferry carrying on the operation of a ferry shall make an application in Form 4 to the Panchayat Samiti within forty-five days, accompanied by a fee of twenty rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the operation of a ferry is undertaken, and the Panchayat Samiti shall dispose of it within forty-five days of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this office memorandum may be brought to the notice of the Mines and Geology Department, Government of West Bengal.
