STANDING ORDER

To

All Tourist Officers,

Subject: The operation of a houseboat by operators of a houseboat under the Tamil Nadu Ancient and Historical Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 1966, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Tamil Nadu Ancient and Historical Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 1966 (Tamil Nadu Act 25 of 1966), the Tourism Department, Government of Tamil Nadu hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the operation of a houseboat by operators of a houseboat.

2. The matter has been examined. Every operator of a houseboat carrying on the operation of a houseboat shall make an application in Form V to the Director of Tourism within ninety days, accompanied by a fee of ten thousand rupees.

3. The Tourist Officer shall ensure that conservation plan is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Director of Tourism within ninety days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Tourism Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
