STANDING ORDER

To

All Secretaries of the Gram Panchayat,

Subject: The operation of a rural water supply scheme by operators of a rural water supply scheme under the Tamil Nadu Panchayats Act, 1994, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Tamil Nadu Panchayats Act, 1994 (Tamil Nadu Act 21 of 1994), the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, Government of Tamil Nadu hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the operation of a rural water supply scheme by operators of a rural water supply scheme.

2. The matter has been examined. Every operator of a rural water supply scheme carrying on the operation of a rural water supply scheme shall make an application in Form 2 to the Zila Parishad within fifteen days, accompanied by a fee of ten rupees.

3. The Secretary of the Gram Panchayat shall ensure that licence is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Zila Parishad within fifteen days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
