STANDING ORDER

To

All Divisional Canal Officers,

Subject: The discharge of effluent into a stream by person discharging effluent into a streams under the Kerala Ground Water (Control and Regulation) Act, 2002, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Kerala Ground Water (Control and Regulation) Act, 2002 (Kerala Act 19 of 2002), the Water Resources Department, Government of Kerala hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the discharge of effluent into a stream by person discharging effluent into a streams.

2. The matter has been examined. Every person discharging effluent into a stream carrying on the discharge of effluent into a stream shall make an application in Form B to the Dam Safety Authority within seven days, accompanied by a fee of five hundred rupees.

3. The Divisional Canal Officer shall ensure that permit is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Dam Safety Authority within seven days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Water Resources Department, Government of Kerala.
