STANDING ORDER

To

All Patwaris,

Subject: The holding of Government land on lease by lessees of Government land under the Puducherry Land Reforms (Fixation of Ceiling on Land) Act, 1973, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Puducherry Land Reforms (Fixation of Ceiling on Land) Act, 1973 (Puducherry Act 9 of 1973), the Urban Development Department, Government of Puducherry hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the holding of Government land on lease by lessees of Government land.

2. The matter has been examined. Every lessee of Government land carrying on the holding of Government land on lease shall make an application in Form 3 to the Sub-Divisional Officer within fifteen days, accompanied by a fee of twenty rupees.

3. The Patwari shall ensure that record of rights is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Sub-Divisional Officer within fifteen days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Urban Development Department, Government of Puducherry.
