STANDING ORDER

To

All Registrars of Marriages,

Subject: The registration of births and deaths by registrars of births and deaths under the Tamil Nadu Registration of Marriages Act, 2009, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Tamil Nadu Registration of Marriages Act, 2009 (Tamil Nadu Act 21 of 2009), the General Administration Department, Government of Tamil Nadu hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the registration of births and deaths by registrars of births and deaths.

2. The matter has been examined. Every registrar of births and deaths carrying on the registration of births and deaths shall make an application in Form I to the Government of Tamil Nadu within ninety days, accompanied by a fee of two thousand rupees.

3. The Registrar of Marriages shall ensure that certificate is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Government of Tamil Nadu within ninety days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the General Administration Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
