STANDING ORDER

To

All Divisional Canal Officers,

Subject: The irrigation of land from a canal by cultivators of irrigated land under the Maharashtra Irrigation Act, 1976, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Maharashtra Irrigation Act, 1976 (Maharashtra Act 38 of 1976), the Water Resources Department, Government of Maharashtra hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the irrigation of land from a canal by cultivators of irrigated land.

2. The matter has been examined. Every cultivator of irrigated land carrying on the irrigation of land from a canal shall make an application in Form B to the Government of Maharashtra within seven days, accompanied by a fee of five hundred rupees.

3. The Divisional Canal Officer shall ensure that source of water is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Government of Maharashtra within seven days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Water Resources Department, Government of Maharashtra.
