STANDING ORDER

To

All Conciliation Officers,

Subject: The manufacture of beedis by employers of beedi workers under the Tamil Nadu Industrial Establishments (Conferment of Permanent Status to Workmen) Act, 1981, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Tamil Nadu Industrial Establishments (Conferment of Permanent Status to Workmen) Act, 1981 (Tamil Nadu Act 46 of 1981), the Home Department, Government of Tamil Nadu hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the manufacture of beedis by employers of beedi workers.

2. The matter has been examined. Every employer of beedi workers carrying on the manufacture of beedis shall make an application in Form IV to the Industrial Tribunal within twenty-one days, accompanied by a fee of one hundred rupees.

3. The Conciliation Officer shall ensure that appointment letter is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Industrial Tribunal within twenty-one days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Home Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
