STANDING ORDER

To

All Collectors,

Subject: The granting of leases by lessors of immovable property under the Karnataka Stamp Act, 1957, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Karnataka Stamp Act, 1957 (Karnataka Act 34 of 1957), the Registration and Stamps Department, Government of Karnataka hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the granting of leases by lessors of immovable property.

2. The matter has been examined. Every lessor of immovable property carrying on the granting of leases shall make an application in Form B to the Chief Controlling Revenue Authority within one hundred and eighty days, accompanied by a fee of fifty rupees.

3. The Collector shall ensure that refund application is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Chief Controlling Revenue Authority within one hundred and eighty days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Registration and Stamps Department, Government of Karnataka.
