OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: The irrigation of land from a canal by cultivators of irrigated land under the Bengal Irrigation Act, 1876, regarding.

1. The undersigned is directed to say that references have been received in the Social Welfare Department, Government of West Bengal on the manner in which the irrigation of land from a canal by cultivators of irrigated land is to be regulated under the Bengal Irrigation Act, 1876.

2. The matter has been examined. Every cultivator of irrigated land carrying on the irrigation of land from a canal shall make an application in Form G to the Tribunal within thirty days, accompanied by a fee of ten thousand rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the irrigation of land from a canal is undertaken, and the Tribunal shall dispose of it within thirty days of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this office memorandum may be brought to the notice of the Social Welfare Department, Government of West Bengal.
