STANDING ORDER

To

All Secretaries of the Gram Panchayat,

Subject: The leasing of a village tank by lessees of a village tank under the Karnataka Gram Swaraj and Panchayat Raj Act, 1993, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Karnataka Gram Swaraj and Panchayat Raj Act, 1993 (Karnataka Act 14 of 1993), the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, Government of Karnataka hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the leasing of a village tank by lessees of a village tank.

2. The matter has been examined. Every lessee of a village tank carrying on the leasing of a village tank shall make an application in Form 4 to the Zila Parishad within ninety days, accompanied by a fee of ten rupees.

3. The Secretary of the Gram Panchayat shall ensure that muster roll is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Zila Parishad within ninety days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, Government of Karnataka.
