STANDING ORDER

To

All Superintending Engineers,

Subject: The use of water for industry by users of water for industry under the Bengal Irrigation Act, 1876, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Bengal Irrigation Act, 1876 (West Bengal Act 3 of 1876), the Transport Department, Government of West Bengal hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the use of water for industry by users of water for industry.

2. The matter has been examined. Every user of water for industry carrying on the use of water for industry shall make an application in Form E to the Ground Water Authority within thirty days, accompanied by a fee of five thousand rupees.

3. The Superintending Engineer shall ensure that tube well is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Ground Water Authority within thirty days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Transport Department, Government of West Bengal.
