STANDING ORDER

To

All Tahsildars,

Subject: The conversion of agricultural land to non-agricultural use by person converting agricultural lands under the West Bengal Estates Acquisition Act, 1954, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the West Bengal Estates Acquisition Act, 1954 (West Bengal Act 1 of 1954), the Transport Department, Government of West Bengal hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the conversion of agricultural land to non-agricultural use by person converting agricultural lands.

2. The matter has been examined. Every person converting agricultural land carrying on the conversion of agricultural land to non-agricultural use shall make an application in Form 12 to the Sub-Divisional Officer within one hundred and twenty days, accompanied by a fee of ten rupees.

3. The Tahsildar shall ensure that record of rights is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Sub-Divisional Officer within one hundred and twenty days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Transport Department, Government of West Bengal.
