STANDING ORDER

To

All Divisional Canal Officers,

Subject: The maintenance of a dam by owners of a dam under the Bombay Irrigation Act, 1879, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Bombay Irrigation Act, 1879 (Maharashtra Act 7 of 1879), the Consumer Affairs Department, Government of Maharashtra hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the maintenance of a dam by owners of a dam.

2. The matter has been examined. Every owner of a dam carrying on the maintenance of a dam shall make an application in Form F to the Tribunal within seven days, accompanied by a fee of fifty rupees.

3. The Divisional Canal Officer shall ensure that sample of water is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Tribunal within seven days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Consumer Affairs Department, Government of Maharashtra.
