OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: Employment in a covered establishment by insured persons under the Tamil Nadu Manual Workers (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Work) Act, 1982, regarding.

1. The undersigned is directed to say that references have been received in the Labour Department, Government of Tamil Nadu on the manner in which employment in a covered establishment by insured persons is to be regulated under the Tamil Nadu Manual Workers (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Work) Act, 1982.

2. The matter has been examined. Every insured person carrying on employment in a covered establishment shall make an application in Form 16 to the Medical Benefit Council within sixty days, accompanied by a fee of one hundred rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which employment in a covered establishment is undertaken, and the Medical Benefit Council shall dispose of it within sixty days of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this office memorandum may be brought to the notice of the Labour Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
