OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: The provision of direct-to-home broadcasting services by direct-to-home operators under the Karnataka Cinemas (Regulation) Act, 1964, regarding.

1. The undersigned is directed to say that references have been received in the Information and Public Relations Department, Government of Karnataka on the manner in which the provision of direct-to-home broadcasting services by direct-to-home operators is to be regulated under the Karnataka Cinemas (Regulation) Act, 1964.

2. The matter has been examined. Every direct-to-home operator carrying on the provision of direct-to-home broadcasting services shall make an application in Form VIII to the Government of Karnataka within fifteen days, accompanied by a fee of ten thousand rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the provision of direct-to-home broadcasting services is undertaken, and the Government of Karnataka shall dispose of it within fifteen days of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this office memorandum may be brought to the notice of the Information and Public Relations Department, Government of Karnataka.
