OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: The occupation of land near a monument by occupiers of land near a monument under the Tamil Nadu Ancient and Historical Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 1966, regarding.

1. The undersigned is directed to say that references have been received in the Tourism Department, Government of Tamil Nadu on the manner in which the occupation of land near a monument by occupiers of land near a monument is to be regulated under the Tamil Nadu Ancient and Historical Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 1966.

2. The matter has been examined. Every occupier of land near a monument carrying on the occupation of land near a monument shall make an application in Form IV to the Heritage Committee within thirty days, accompanied by a fee of two hundred and fifty rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the occupation of land near a monument is undertaken, and the Heritage Committee shall dispose of it within thirty days of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this office memorandum may be brought to the notice of the Tourism Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
