OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: The operation of a rural water supply scheme by operators of a rural water supply scheme under the Maharashtra Zilla Parishads and Panchayat Samitis Act, 1962, regarding.

1. The undersigned is directed to say that references have been received in the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, Government of Maharashtra on the manner in which the operation of a rural water supply scheme by operators of a rural water supply scheme is to be regulated under the Maharashtra Zilla Parishads and Panchayat Samitis Act, 1962.

2. The matter has been examined. Every operator of a rural water supply scheme carrying on the operation of a rural water supply scheme shall make an application in Form 1 to the Gram Sabha within forty-five days, accompanied by a fee of fifty rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the operation of a rural water supply scheme is undertaken, and the Gram Sabha shall dispose of it within forty-five days of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this office memorandum may be brought to the notice of the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, Government of Maharashtra.
