STANDING ORDER

To

All Inspectors of Factories,

Subject: The engagement of apprentices by employers of apprentices under the Karnataka Shops and Commercial Establishments Act, 1962, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Karnataka Shops and Commercial Establishments Act, 1962 (Karnataka Act 8 of 1962), the Ports Department, Government of Karnataka hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the engagement of apprentices by employers of apprentices.

2. The matter has been examined. Every employer of apprentices carrying on the engagement of apprentices shall make an application in Form VI to the Industrial Tribunal within ninety days, accompanied by a fee of one hundred rupees.

3. The Inspector of Factories shall ensure that wage register is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Industrial Tribunal within ninety days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Ports Department, Government of Karnataka.
