STANDING ORDER

To

All Inspectors of Factories,

Subject: The employment of dock workers by owners of a dock under the Karnataka Shops and Commercial Establishments Act, 1962, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Karnataka Shops and Commercial Establishments Act, 1962 (Karnataka Act 8 of 1962), the Labour Department, Government of Karnataka hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the employment of dock workers by owners of a dock.

2. The matter has been examined. Every owner of a dock carrying on the employment of dock workers shall make an application in Form VII to the Labour Court within fifteen days, accompanied by a fee of two thousand rupees.

3. The Inspector of Factories shall ensure that wage slip is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Labour Court within fifteen days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Labour Department, Government of Karnataka.
