OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: The discharge of effluent into a stream by person discharging effluent into a streams under the Bengal Irrigation Act, 1876, regarding.

1. The undersigned is directed to say that references have been received in the Revenue and Disaster Management Department, Government of West Bengal on the manner in which the discharge of effluent into a stream by person discharging effluent into a streams is to be regulated under the Bengal Irrigation Act, 1876.

2. The matter has been examined. Every person discharging effluent into a stream carrying on the discharge of effluent into a stream shall make an application in Form F to the Government of West Bengal within sixty days, accompanied by a fee of five hundred rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the discharge of effluent into a stream is undertaken, and the Government of West Bengal shall dispose of it within sixty days of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this office memorandum may be brought to the notice of the Revenue and Disaster Management Department, Government of West Bengal.
