OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: The business of a pawnbroker by persons carrying on the business of a pawnbroker under the Karnataka Police Act, 1964, regarding.

1. The undersigned is directed to say that references have been received in the Home Department, Government of Karnataka on the manner in which the business of a pawnbroker by persons carrying on the business of a pawnbroker is to be regulated under the Karnataka Police Act, 1964.

2. The matter has been examined. Every person carrying on the business of a pawnbroker carrying on the business of a pawnbroker shall make an application in Form VII to the Commissioner of Police within ten days, accompanied by a fee of fifty rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the business of a pawnbroker is undertaken, and the Commissioner of Police shall dispose of it within ten days of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this office memorandum may be brought to the notice of the Home Department, Government of Karnataka.
