STANDING ORDER

To

All Block Development Officers,

Subject: The leasing of a village tank by lessees of a village tank under the West Bengal Panchayat Act, 1973, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the West Bengal Panchayat Act, 1973 (West Bengal Act 41 of 1973), the Consumer Affairs Department, Government of West Bengal hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the leasing of a village tank by lessees of a village tank.

2. The matter has been examined. Every lessee of a village tank carrying on the leasing of a village tank shall make an application in Form 7 to the Zila Parishad within twenty-one days, accompanied by a fee of fifty rupees.

3. The Block Development Officer shall ensure that assessment register is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Zila Parishad within twenty-one days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Consumer Affairs Department, Government of West Bengal.
