STANDING ORDER

All Deputy Commissioners,

Subject: The running of a hostel by hostels for students of Scheduled Castes under the Tamil Nadu Backward Classes, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Reservation of Seats) Act, 1994, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Tamil Nadu Backward Classes, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Reservation of Seats) Act, 1994 (Tamil Nadu Act 45 of 1994), the Transport Department, Government of Tamil Nadu hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the running of a hostel by hostels for students of Scheduled Castes.

2. The matter has been examined. Every hostel for students of Scheduled Castes carrying on the running of a hostel shall make an application in Form VIII to the Rehabilitation Council within seven days, accompanied by a fee of two hundred rupees.

3. The Deputy Commissioner shall ensure that contract is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Rehabilitation Council within seven days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Transport Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
