OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: The extraction of ground water by person drawing ground waters under the Tamil Nadu Groundwater (Development and Management) Act, 2003, regarding.

1. The undersigned is directed to say that references have been received in the Water Resources Department, Government of Tamil Nadu on the manner in which the extraction of ground water by person drawing ground waters is to be regulated under the Tamil Nadu Groundwater (Development and Management) Act, 2003.

2. The matter has been examined. Every person drawing ground water carrying on the extraction of ground water shall make an application in Form A to the Government of Tamil Nadu within ninety days, accompanied by a fee of one hundred rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the extraction of ground water is undertaken, and the Government of Tamil Nadu shall dispose of it within ninety days of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this office memorandum may be brought to the notice of the Water Resources Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
