STANDING ORDER

All Circle Officers,

Subject: The holding of land by landholders under the West Bengal Estates Acquisition Act, 1954, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the West Bengal Estates Acquisition Act, 1954 (West Bengal Act 1 of 1954), the Transport Department, Government of West Bengal hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the holding of land by landholders.

2. The matter has been examined. Every landholder carrying on the holding of land shall make an application in Form 3 to the Sub-Divisional Officer within thirty days, accompanied by a fee of one hundred rupees.

3. The Circle Officer shall ensure that patta is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Sub-Divisional Officer within thirty days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Transport Department, Government of West Bengal.
