OFFICE MEMORANDUM
Subject: The felling of trees by felling contractors under the Karnataka Forest Act, 1964, regarding.
1. The undersigned is directed to say that references have been received in the Environment Department, Government of Karnataka on the manner in which the felling of trees by felling contractors is to be regulated under the Karnataka Forest Act, 1964.
2. The matter has been examined. Every felling contractor carrying on the felling of trees shall make an application in Form IV to the Biodiversity Authority within thirty days, accompanied by a fee of one thousand rupees.
3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the felling of trees is undertaken, and the Biodiversity Authority shall dispose of it within thirty days of its receipt.
4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this office memorandum may be brought to the notice of the Environment Department, Government of Karnataka.
