STANDING ORDER

To

All Registrars of the Authority,

Subject: The running of a private hostel by operators of a hostel for tenants under the Maharashtra Apartment Ownership Act, 1970, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Maharashtra Apartment Ownership Act, 1970 (Maharashtra Act 15 of 1970), the Housing Department, Government of Maharashtra hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the running of a private hostel by operators of a hostel for tenants.

2. The matter has been examined. Every operator of a hostel for tenants carrying on the running of a private hostel shall make an application in Form D to the Rent Authority within fifteen days, accompanied by a fee of five thousand rupees.

3. The Registrar of the Authority shall ensure that common area is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Rent Authority within fifteen days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Housing Department, Government of Maharashtra.
