STANDING ORDER

To

All Registrars of Births and Deaths,

Subject: The arranging of marriages by marriage bureaus under the Uttarakhand Uniform Civil Code Act, 2024, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Uttarakhand Uniform Civil Code Act, 2024 (Uttarakhand Act 3 of 2024), the Transport Department, Government of Uttarakhand hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the arranging of marriages by marriage bureaus.

2. The matter has been examined. Every marriage bureau carrying on the arranging of marriages shall make an application in Form VIII to the Maintenance Tribunal within ninety days, accompanied by a fee of two hundred rupees.

3. The Registrar of Births and Deaths shall ensure that register of deaths is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Maintenance Tribunal within ninety days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Transport Department, Government of Uttarakhand.
