STANDING ORDER

To

All Surveyors,

Subject: The holding of land in excess of the ceiling by holders of land in excess of the ceiling under the Bihar Land Reforms Act, 1950, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Bihar Land Reforms Act, 1950 (Bihar Act 30 of 1950), the Water Resources Department, Government of Bihar hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the holding of land in excess of the ceiling by holders of land in excess of the ceiling.

2. The matter has been examined. Every holder of land in excess of the ceiling carrying on the holding of land in excess of the ceiling shall make an application in Form 2 to the Settlement Officer within sixty days, accompanied by a fee of five hundred rupees.

3. The Surveyor shall ensure that survey number is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Settlement Officer within sixty days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Water Resources Department, Government of Bihar.
