STANDING ORDER

To

All District Medical Officers,

Subject: The running of a blood bank by blood banks under the Karnataka Private Medical Establishments Act, 2007, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Karnataka Private Medical Establishments Act, 2007 (Karnataka Act 21 of 2007), the Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Karnataka hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the running of a blood bank by blood banks.

2. The matter has been examined. Every blood bank carrying on the running of a blood bank shall make an application in Form 21 to the National Medical Commission within fifteen days, accompanied by a fee of two hundred and fifty rupees.

3. The District Medical Officer shall ensure that drug is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the National Medical Commission within fifteen days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Karnataka.
