OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: The performance of rituals in a temple by archakas under the Maharashtra Prevention and Eradication of Human Sacrifice and other Inhuman, Evil and Aghori Practices and Black Magic Act, 2013, regarding.

1. The undersigned is directed to say that references have been received in the Revenue Department, Government of Maharashtra on the manner in which the performance of rituals in a temple by archakas is to be regulated under the Maharashtra Prevention and Eradication of Human Sacrifice and other Inhuman, Evil and Aghori Practices and Black Magic Act, 2013.

2. The matter has been examined. Every archaka carrying on the performance of rituals in a temple shall make an application in Form H to the Waqf Tribunal within three hundred and sixty-five days, accompanied by a fee of one hundred rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the performance of rituals in a temple is undertaken, and the Waqf Tribunal shall dispose of it within three hundred and sixty-five days of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this office memorandum may be brought to the notice of the Revenue Department, Government of Maharashtra.
