STANDING ORDER

To

All Marriage Officers,

Subject: The administration of the estate of a deceased person by executors of a will under the Maharashtra Regulation of Marriage Bureaus and Registration of Marriages Act, 1998, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Maharashtra Regulation of Marriage Bureaus and Registration of Marriages Act, 1998 (Maharashtra Act 20 of 1998), the Law Department, Government of Maharashtra hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the administration of the estate of a deceased person by executors of a will.

2. The matter has been examined. Every executor of a will carrying on the administration of the estate of a deceased person shall make an application in Form IV to the Government of Maharashtra within sixty days, accompanied by a fee of ten rupees.

3. The Marriage Officer shall ensure that order of maintenance is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Government of Maharashtra within sixty days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Law Department, Government of Maharashtra.
