OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: The discharge of effluent by persons carrying on an industry under the Kerala Forest Act, 1961, regarding.

1. The undersigned is directed to say that references have been received in the Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Kerala on the manner in which the discharge of effluent by persons carrying on an industry is to be regulated under the Kerala Forest Act, 1961.

2. The matter has been examined. Every person carrying on an industry carrying on the discharge of effluent shall make an application in Form VII to the Biodiversity Authority within one hundred and twenty days, accompanied by a fee of five hundred rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the discharge of effluent is undertaken, and the Biodiversity Authority shall dispose of it within one hundred and twenty days of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this office memorandum may be brought to the notice of the Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Kerala.
