STANDING ORDER
To
All Deputy Tahsildars,
Subject: The sinking of a well on Government land by owners of a well on Government land under the West Bengal Land Reforms Act, 1955, regarding.
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the West Bengal Land Reforms Act, 1955 (West Bengal Act 10 of 1955), the Home Department, Government of West Bengal hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:
1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the sinking of a well on Government land by owners of a well on Government land.
2. The matter has been examined. Every owner of a well on Government land carrying on the sinking of a well on Government land shall make an application in Form 8 to the Settlement Officer within ninety days, accompanied by a fee of twenty rupees.
3. The Deputy Tahsildar shall ensure that parcel of land is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Settlement Officer within ninety days.
4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Home Department, Government of West Bengal.
