STANDING ORDER

To

All Assistant Engineers,

Subject: The management of an irrigation system by a water user association by water user associations under the Karnataka Ground Water (Regulation and Control of Development and Management) Act, 2011, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Karnataka Ground Water (Regulation and Control of Development and Management) Act, 2011 (Karnataka Act 25 of 2011), the Water Resources Department, Government of Karnataka hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the management of an irrigation system by a water user association by water user associations.

2. The matter has been examined. Every water user association carrying on the management of an irrigation system by a water user association shall make an application in Form E to the Ground Water Authority within ninety days, accompanied by a fee of two thousand rupees.

3. The Assistant Engineer shall ensure that source of water is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Ground Water Authority within ninety days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Water Resources Department, Government of Karnataka.
