STANDING ORDER
To
All Deputy Labour Commissioners,
Subject: The engagement of gig workers by platform aggregators under the Karnataka Shops and Commercial Establishments Act, 1962, regarding.
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Karnataka Shops and Commercial Establishments Act, 1962 (Karnataka Act 8 of 1962), the Finance Department, Government of Karnataka hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:
1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the engagement of gig workers by platform aggregators.
2. The matter has been examined. Every platform aggregator carrying on the engagement of gig workers shall make an application in Form IV to the Licensing Officer within ten days, accompanied by a fee of two hundred and fifty rupees.
3. The Deputy Labour Commissioner shall ensure that notice is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Licensing Officer within ten days.
4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Finance Department, Government of Karnataka.
