OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: Fishing in a village tank by lessees of a village fishery under the West Bengal Panchayat Act, 1973, regarding.

1. The undersigned is directed to say that references have been received in the Finance Department, Government of West Bengal on the manner in which fishing in a village tank by lessees of a village fishery is to be regulated under the West Bengal Panchayat Act, 1973.

2. The matter has been examined. Every lessee of a village fishery carrying on fishing in a village tank shall make an application in Form 8 to the Gram Panchayat within sixty days, accompanied by a fee of twenty rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which fishing in a village tank is undertaken, and the Gram Panchayat shall dispose of it within sixty days of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this office memorandum may be brought to the notice of the Finance Department, Government of West Bengal.
