STANDING ORDER

To

All Superintending Archaeologists,

Subject: The keeping of a hotel by keepers of a hotel under the Maharashtra Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 1960, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Maharashtra Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 1960 (Maharashtra Act 12 of 1960), the Tourism Department, Government of Maharashtra hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the keeping of a hotel by keepers of a hotel.

2. The matter has been examined. Every keeper of a hotel carrying on the keeping of a hotel shall make an application in Form IV to the Hotel Classification Committee within twenty-one days, accompanied by a fee of ten thousand rupees.

3. The Superintending Archaeologist shall ensure that licence is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Hotel Classification Committee within twenty-one days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Tourism Department, Government of Maharashtra.
