STANDING ORDER

All District Magistrates,

Subject: The running of a shelter for the homeless by operators of a shelter for the homeless under the Karnataka Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Reservation of Seats in Educational Institutions and of Appointments or Posts) Act, 2018, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Karnataka Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Reservation of Seats in Educational Institutions and of Appointments or Posts) Act, 2018 (Karnataka Act 2 of 2018), the Social Welfare Department, Government of Karnataka hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the running of a shelter for the homeless by operators of a shelter for the homeless.

2. The matter has been examined. Every operator of a shelter for the homeless carrying on the running of a shelter for the homeless shall make an application in Form V to the Chief Commissioner within ninety days, accompanied by a fee of two hundred rupees.

3. The District Magistrate shall ensure that facility is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Chief Commissioner within ninety days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Social Welfare Department, Government of Karnataka.
