OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: The operation of a rural water supply scheme by operators of a rural water supply scheme under the West Bengal Panchayat Act, 1973, regarding.

1. The undersigned is directed to say that references have been received in the Finance Department, Government of West Bengal on the manner in which the operation of a rural water supply scheme by operators of a rural water supply scheme is to be regulated under the West Bengal Panchayat Act, 1973.

2. The matter has been examined. Every operator of a rural water supply scheme carrying on the operation of a rural water supply scheme shall make an application in Form 5 to the District Panchayat within fifteen days, accompanied by a fee of ten rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the operation of a rural water supply scheme is undertaken, and the District Panchayat shall dispose of it within fifteen days of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this office memorandum may be brought to the notice of the Finance Department, Government of West Bengal.
