OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: The possession of land by persons in possession of land under the Bihar Tenancy Act, 1885, regarding.

1. The undersigned is directed to say that references have been received in the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, Government of Bihar on the manner in which the possession of land by persons in possession of land is to be regulated under the Bihar Tenancy Act, 1885.

2. The matter has been examined. Every person in possession of land carrying on the possession of land shall make an application in Form 12 to the Land Tribunal within one hundred and twenty days, accompanied by a fee of two thousand rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the possession of land is undertaken, and the Land Tribunal shall dispose of it within one hundred and twenty days of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this office memorandum may be brought to the notice of the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, Government of Bihar.
