OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: The employment of inter-State migrant workmen by employers of inter-State migrant workmen under the Karnataka Shops and Commercial Establishments Act, 1962, regarding.

1. The undersigned is directed to say that references have been received in the Labour Department, Government of Karnataka on the manner in which the employment of inter-State migrant workmen by employers of inter-State migrant workmen is to be regulated under the Karnataka Shops and Commercial Establishments Act, 1962.

2. The matter has been examined. Every employer of inter-State migrant workmen carrying on the employment of inter-State migrant workmen shall make an application in Form II to the Chief Inspector of Factories within twenty-one days, accompanied by a fee of ten thousand rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the employment of inter-State migrant workmen is undertaken, and the Chief Inspector of Factories shall dispose of it within twenty-one days of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this office memorandum may be brought to the notice of the Labour Department, Government of Karnataka.
